A Meaningful Milestone on the Road to SCA/HPC Asia 2026
Being selected as one of the People of ACM this year made me pause and look back with deep gratitude.
It reminded me that every small decision — when guided by purpose — eventually leads us to meet the right people: mentors, colleagues, friends, and supporters who shape us, lift us, and walk with us through challenges and growth.
Thanks ACM — for seeing value in my journey.
Many of the people who shaped this journey, I want to thank them again:
- Professor Roland N. Ibbett, my PhD supervisor at Edinburgh and a lifelong mentor. His kindness, generosity, and wisdom have guided me long beyond my PhD years.
- Krit Janard, my MSc student, whose remarkable dissertation work and shared passion for accessible telepresence systems.
- The directors, instructors, researchers, students, TAs, and crew teams of the ACM HPC Schools who invest their time every year to reignite curiosity, build technical depth, and create a truly global learning community.
- Mr. Boonchoo Treethong and other donors whose generosity allows students from Thammasat University to experience the global HPC community firsthand.
- The HPC-AI Advisory Council, NCI Australia, and NSCC, for their efforts, knowledge-sharing, and for inspiring students across the APAC region.
- Our Thai students at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Thammasat University, whose growth through competitions and global exchanges continually inspires me to create more opportunities back home.
- NRCT, ThaiSC, and my research team for believing in the dream of building an HPC capacity-building ecosystem in Northern Thailand.
- The young innovators in HPC Ignite, now the founding members of the Thammasat University ACM SIGHPC Student Chapter.
- AWS, whose fuel us to turn several POCs into real, functioning prototypes.
Looking Ahead: HPC Asia 2026
All of these experiences — and all of these people — helped shape the invited session that I will be contributing to at HPC Asia 2026:
Connecting Global HPC Infrastructure with Grassroots Innovation
27 January 2026 | 13:30–17:00
Osaka, Japan
Together with Fabrizio Gagliardi, we will explore how HPC schools, competitions, cloud platforms, and community-driven ecosystems can empower local innovators to turn creativity into real-world impact.
If you are attending SCA2026 / HPC Asia 2026, and you share the belief that:
- Global HPC and cloud systems can uplift communities,
- Education and mentorship change lives, and
- innovation grows strongest when people grow together,
I warmly invite you to join us — and continue this conversation in person. Your presence and your story will make this session even more meaningful.
